Keyboard Issues

I bought a new iMac Sunday and have downloaded all the updates. My keyboard works fine except for the f11 and f12 volume buttons. I do not know where to fix this or how. Was this a bad firmware update that I received Sunday night?

Go to System Preferences, Keyboard & Mouse, Keyboard Shortcuts and see if your F11 and F12 keys are assigned to a task.
