I just noticed the other night that when I turned on my mac in the dark i could not see anything to type in my password... when first turning on MacBook Pro, the keyboard is not lit up until I put in my password. Is there a way to enable the keys to light up so i can see putting in my password at night.

If you have FileVault enabled, the keyboard backlight (and automatic display brightness control, etc.) stays off until you have logged in and the appropriate kernel extensions are loaded. There is no way to change this behaviour, AFAIK.
