Keyboard on macbook help

We have the multifunction delete key, but on windows it goes from left to right and backspace goes right to left. Is there a function like that for the macbook?

I was looking for this for a guy I work with. He´s only been on a Mac for a week and he is getting frustrated. Trying to ease him into it.
