I've been a long-time Android user who has recently come to iPhone, as I decided iPhone now had pretty much all the benefits of Android, including being able to choose 3rd party keyboards and use swype typing, something I use all the time.

On Android, GBoard was amazing at working out what I was swyping.

I tried the Apple keyboard for a few weeks but couldn't get on with its odd suggestions and auto-corrections of words (even ones I'd typed a few words ago), so downloaded GBoard. But it does the same!

For example, I just swyped "have" and it came out as Haber. What on Earth is Haber?! It's as if I'm still using the Apple keyboard, as GBoard was flawless on Android.

I do agree that Androids GBoard is superior. I have switched between GBoard on my 12 Pro and the stock iOS one a lot and I keep coming back to GBoard because of the haptics, mainly.

But I agree. It's not the best experience.

Gboard learns your tendencies over time. As you stated that you were a long time Android user Gboard learned from your use on Android. So too will Gboard learn from your use on iOS. I came from the same background with Android and Gboard (and SwiftKey). Give it some time and Gboard will improve.

haber is a Spanish word look at the lenguajes you have activated in the phone take Spanish away from the list I'm sure you have it on

I can't speak on swype as I do not use it. But on Android Gboard is without a doubt the way to go for me. But in my usage the iPhone default keyboard is awesome. I can type so much faster on an iPhone then any other phone. I can close my eyes and it for the most part I can type a whole message correctly in iOS. Love it.
