Keyboard shortcut for Mac newbie

Just got my first mac today...

Can't figure out or find keyboard shortcut I used all the time on Windows.

To select an entire line of text starting at the end I used to click Shift-Home, to select all text in a line starting at the beginning in Windows you click Shift-End.

There has to be a way to do this on the mac.

try shift + command + arrow (in whatever direction you want to go).
