Keyboard shortcut using a mouse button?

Is there a way to set assign a keyboard shortcut to a mouse button? For example, if I want to quit an app, could I assign CMD+Q to a mouse button and quit apps quickly this way? I have a few good uses for this if I could get it to work, but I can't figure out how.

I use third-party drivers to assign my mouse buttons.
I am using Steermouse and it will allow you to do what you are wanting. There is also USB Overdrive, I am sure it will do the same.
