This may have been obvious to many but below is my experience with the iPhone keyboard. Please feel free to add any tips you may find useful.
I came from a Palm Treo and found the iPhone keyboard to be....better than I had feared but not as good as I had hoped.
Overtime, I found that trying to press the various letters with the middle of your thumb rather than the tips of your thumbs makes quite a bit of difference. I wouldn't say it aleviates all the problems I've been experiencing but it certainly helps.
