Hi,
I've been trawling the net for a couple of hours and can't believe I can't fix this problem on my so-called internationally-friendly MacBook running Tiger.
I have a MacBook with a French keyboard. Sometimes I need to type in English, and sometimes I need to type in Turkish (using Turkish accented characters). I can't touch type on either keyboard layout.
I know all about character palette and keyboard viewer. In the keyboard viewer for a French keyboard there is support for some Turkish characters (with option key combinations) but not all: the Turkish s cedilla (with a tail) and a g with a smile on top are two examples that just aren't there.
Now, here is my problem: how can I type in Turkish on this French keyboard, given that there is no support in the French keyboard layout for some of the characters I need? We're not talking a one-off instance of inserting a character from the palette, and I can't be doing with a virtual keyboard on the screen: I need these characters at my fingertips!
Is there some kind of program that can rewire those key bindings in the keyboard viewer to the characters I want? I mean, I would happily sacrifice a mathematical symbol or two to get the missing Turkish characters.
Hate to say it, but the Windows ALT + code key combinations worked like a dream for me: I can't believe the Mac can't do something similar.
