Thanks for the quick reply, but respectfully, I disagree with you. The keyboard on one computer is never identical with another. There's always a slight variation--subtle but slight.
I'm really speaking here to people who are sensitive (or crazy) to this degree.
Like I said, for clarity, my first impression using the God Macbook that was delivered to my house compared to the Gold one in the store was "Hmmm, this keyboard feels harder to press than the ones in the store".
I might have to stop by to the Apple store and check to make sure I am not imagining it, but to my finger memory, it feels harder to type.

I'm holding on to the silver because I'm inclined to think at this point that only the silvers have softer keyboards than the others.

Am I imagining this?

This is the scientific approach. First of all, robertfrancis, you are not crazy no matter if this is just imagination or actually difference between the models.
This is the first time apple is making space grey and gold MacBooks. They have made silver for ages. So, they have very much experience with the mechanical properties of the silver anodized aluminium. The anodizing process adds from between a few microns to about 100 microns. This is extremely little. However, in the new retina MacBook, geometric production tolerances are probably close to micron level to get such a tight and stable construction as the rMB is. If the gold and space grey anodizing process varies slightly by "a few microns" it can lead to an overall "out of tolerance" compared to the silver. Not noticeable by me or anyone else, but noticeable by you which has a higher trained skill for keyboard sensitivity accuracy due to extensive typing or other reasons. It does not have to be like this, but it is plausible. It also might be due to the fact that the grey and gold are produced on another production line and the silver is produced separately. But I would not immediately turn down your feeling of difference as pure psychological.
I would call the OP crazy but I really have been finding the keys stiffer on the Gold MB I own vs the Gold I tried in the store. All day I've been like, "these keys feel a little uncomfortably stiff".
