Hi guys i thought we should have a dedicated thread for the discussion of the event itself and particularly the parts relating to the ipod touch 4 launch.

The even is already streaming live
http://www.apple.com

So far everything we hoped for. I kind of wished they tossed the 8GB model in favor of a 16GB model but at least they put the 8GB in the 4th Gen line up unlike the 3rd Gen where the 8GB was just a remodel of the 2nd Gen.

Did Stevo indicate the camera type in the back? 3 or 5 mp?
He didn't, he only mentioned that the back camera can record on HD quality and that's it. So i'm suprised so many are screaming of happiness already since it doesn't look like the back camera can take photos..

I'm wondering if the rear camera can take photos or just the HD video recording. It's kinda confusing.

I'm guessing his ambiguity indicates that its for video only and probably 3mp.

oh well, still happy.

Could anybody tell if the new Ipod has a built in mic or is it still going to use the IN-Line mic. Mr. Jobs glossed over that.

I want a built in mic!

I thought I was gonna just be happy with the 3g I got for my wife and I. Hell with that. I'm ordering two as soon as that store comes live. haha.

I bailed on the stream, had to get back to work, but it dropped on me a bunch of times and went back to the beginning, where I had to hit Done, then open it back up to catch up to the current spot. Almost missed some of the iPod touch stuff!

iPod Touch

Did Steve mention anything about upgrading to the new model if you have recently purchased an iPod Touch? (i.e. I got the 64 GB model a month ago.....)

Or am I outta luck??

Typically, most places give 30 day money back. Costco gives 90 day. I belive Fry's gives 15 day money back.

Where did you buy it from?

I was sure they were going to a do an entry level model but I guess I am wrong, I guess they didn't want to confuse consumers like they did last year, since the 8GB 3rd Gen touch isn't really 3rd gen.

Anyways this is a huge update from the current models!

Oh did steve mention more ram for the touch, I seem to have missed that part.

Are you assuming that the $229 is fully 4th gen. I'm not going to assume that. I hope that it is but...
