Couple of things for anybody to be able to help you.
What king of image is it?
Where did you get it from?
I would think that you have to get the transparency before you bring it into Keynote. Probably doing something like taking the image into Photoshop and making the white areas transparent, saving it as a PDF, PSD and importing it into Keynote. That would be my guess.
