Is there any way to make a Keynote object do something when clicked, such as change the current slide? I know PowerPoint can do this - why not Keynote?

sure.. make sure you have more than one object in your current slide, then open the inspector... click the button on the tab that looks like a box coming in from the right. this brings up the actions panel.... on the slide select the first thing to come in, and choose how you would like it to come in (build style). continue for each one... then go back and select the objects one by one and select the order....

when you play it back, you'll have to click for each action to take place...
you'll find that most of the advanced features of keynote are in the inspector... once you find it, you've found everything... :)

hope this helps,
reality
