can i have a song play throughout the slideshow?

if so, how do i do it?

If you have some music in iTunes then click on the media button on the Keynote menu bar and you will see a list of the tracks like in the picture below.

Choose which track you want to use from there.

yeah i know that. but when you go to the next slide, the music stops. is there a way to play a song throughout the slide show?

From Keynote 3 help menu:



Basically you add the song in the document inspector, rather than the slide inspector.

It should look something like this:
