I am about to go from PC to Mac, and I understand Keynote is the answer to powerpoint. Thing is, I am used to running my Powerpoint from my work laptop(PC) to the projector. If I were to make my presentation in Keynote, would I have to get a MacBook to run it to the projector or is there another trick I don't know about?

I was planning to buy a Mac Mini for my daughter and an iMac for myself.

If you want to use all the cool effects, yeah, you kind of do want a Mac plugged into the projector. You can export to PowerPoint, Flash, QuickTime and a couple other formats, but some stuff (particularly the transitions) will go missing.

I only own an iMac, and last year I did a short presentation for some 1st and 2nd graders. I had to bring my iMac, a keyboard, and mouse... it was a very cumbersome experience (even though the little kids were impressed by a "screen" being the entire computer.) If you do presentations, I'd recommend getting a notebook... but just my two cents.
