Only in the USA where you can't take a picture with your $500 tablet. It makes perfect sense you have to go spend another $300 on a P&S camera so that you don't look like an "idiot". I think the cameras on the mini and the ipad 4 is good enough for any photography; why bring another device with you?

It may not be as ergonomic as a camcorder or P&S using an ipad 9.7, but the mini is totally legit.

LOL--Proud to be American, but NOT concerned with what others think of me:) Not all of us are so vain!!! Hopefully those of you on either side of the pond(s) realizes this is a very small minority. Possibly it's because I'm in Alaska--where we are '20 years ago' when it comes fashion:) I own a 5dmk3, 5dmk2 and 7d as well as a dozen lenses including a 3 piece "L" prime set and three L zoom lenses. I have a Canon G12 and S100 (and 95)--but I still often shoot with my iPhone 5 and/or my iPad 3 (now a 4) or mini if that's the piece of kit handy. I think many discount the for factor without giving it half a chance. It's actually a 'kick' to shoot either the big or now the mini iPad--what an awesome 'view finder' LOL---it's actually a very capable camera with decent images, especially if you give it some light and IG treatment post shot---or any of the other, literally hundreds of photo processing apps...one can actually get some pretty good shots. Keep in mind, not but ten years ago, 4MP shots were top of the line cameras---even in the pro DSLR Big sensor cams. That's the only drawback, the sensor size (which isn't much smaller than some of the P&S cams, albeit with the ability to process, distribute, and archive on the same device). Again, lighting is essential...from there, good photographers can get incredible shots, just as a talented guitarist can pick up a POS guitar and play great music--a talented photog will get the shot with the camera available to her or him

...as they say, the BEST camera is the one you've got with ya! I'm not a fan of clichés, but this one sticks! And with the ability to 'stitch' shots for bigger prints, the apps to do so are numerous--and included in system. With cell or wifi, instant upload to sites, fast distribution, and ease of storage makes an iOS device incredibly convenient IMHO--again coming from someone that 'shoots' to pay my mortgage---and have for two decades now starting with film---the iPad, iPhone, iTouch--all very adequate cams. Keep in mind, he's taking BackStage shots where lighting is abundant in modeling situations

...and as others have alluded to, they're much more inconspicuous used correctly

No offense, but what part of "I go to fashion shows a lot and take behind the scenes at photo shoots and events i go to. The iphone 4s does a good job but it fills up so quickly" don't you understand?

The OP wanted to get an iPad Mini with larger storage to take photos with. The whole thread was about taking photos.

Not sure how the Nexus 7 would fit in this scenario. Care to explain how it would fit in?

The iPhone is more expensive than an iPad, so wouldn't taking photos with an iPhone get you mugged too?

I thought the exact same thing---WTH does a Nexus for you and your GF have to do with this thread??? It's starting to get extremely annoying, these irrelevant and misplaced Android bozos posting in a completely different discussion. You'd think 'they' could find a board that would interest them

...however, I, too, enjoy Android for certain things---but the community support is as fragmented as the OS itself. IOW, there isn't a Mac Rumors site for Droid folk---not one nearly as active or well managed. Guess we'll have to tolerate it :(

Maybe anywhere but in America the concept of taking photos with a tablet (especially at a fashion shoot) is just so weird it never even occurred to me that was the use, maybe he was using the tablet to just look at them?

It's obvious OP is am amateur anyway, he may as well buy a 5 mega pixel pocket camera for under $10 and have the same results... and if he was actually seriously about taking good photos at a fashion shoot... well he'd spend his money more wisely on a good camera

thank you sir for your opinion definately wasn't helpful and im by far not a amateur. I have a 9 to 5 so i can't dedicate all my time to photography and eventually filmmaking and also I was accepted to NYU. You should speak on what you know of. We are all not nerds just obsessed with apple products..

I'm sorry but anyone using an iPad as a camera is definitely an amateur photographer.

Anyone using less that a DSLR or M3/4ths is an amateur. Considering the snobbishness shown by more "professional photographers" in this thread, I know who I would rather hang out with.
