Remember when Kevin Lynch showed the garage door opener? Looks like little kids from 1980 had the same idea! This is from one of my old "3-2-1 Contact" magazines.

I love that kids would think of a lighter in 1980 with so many smoking around them. Depending on your location, I guess you might still today.

I guess this goes to show once again that you can have very similar ideas, simply before the technology exists to make it.

Don't know about the laser, but the one on the top right is pretty close to the Apple Watch in some ways. Remember the garage door opener demonstration?

EDIT: And... I just realized that the OP already mentioned that. Sorry!

A lot of this came true sooner too.

Phones replaced watches, so we got some of these kids inventions much sooner than we are even getting the watch.

I'm excited about the watch, but a phone, essentially returned us to a pocket watch. I don't think that is so horrible. I'm still not certain on the future of these.

I am still unsure if I need a watch. My phone has always been my watch, I tried out the moto 360 when I had any Norwood one time *quivers* and I found myself just not wearing it very much. Let's see if this one is any different, it certainly looks the part at least.

If the Edition spit out cheeseburgers like that one watch, I would put my order in now.

I guess Martha now works for Google at Android Wear.
Well I dunno about that, but she does have very neat handwriting. :)

These futuristic predictions are great, the kids, and the printed news article ones too. I love the one that says "telecast from the moon"... Wow. Nothing in the 60s says progress like things coming from the moon. (Especially wizards. *ahem*)

Kids from 1980 predicted WATCH - not far off, indeed

Fascinating. Love this kind of stuff. Thank you for sharing!

Very cool. Love the first idea with the Gossip functionality as one of it's main functions... Twitter anyone?
