I’m shocked it wasn’t dropped. This can only mean one thing, it is selling in such large numbers that they couldn’t justify killing it.

To be fair, if you just want to see the time and read your iMessages on your wrist, it’s not that bad. Plus, it has better battery life than any other Apple Watch.
It’s selling to people who just want to get into a smart watch. Then in a year when they realize how trashy it is they’ll upgrade. Win win for apple. But so obvious it’s a cash grab.

Are they actually still manufacturing the S3? Or is this perhaps the result of them making too many of them originally, so they have a giant warehouse full of them that they're still trying to get rid of?

I have the S3 and sooo wanted to upgrade but after seeing S7 and what might be the S8 I might wait. For 90% of the time the S3 does do the basics I need but the Nike Run App and Podcast App do take a few workarounds. Still unsure if to go for the upgrade or just wait.

I was in my local Apple Authorised Reseller today (no Apple stores in my country) and chatting to the sales fellow about a variety of Apple subjects. I brought up the fact that the S3 is still being flogged and he chuckled, rolled his eyes and said "We don't talk about the S3 in the store". The poor employees are embarrassed to have it being sold in the shop.

For what it’s worth, they’ve fixed the updating issues and I’ve had no problems the last 2/3 updates including WatchOS 8, which came in at 1GB. They’ve done a bunch of cleanup as I currently have 3.25GB free after updating, the most I ever had before is 2.2GB.

I use it for activity tracking, outdoor stuff so I’m not sweating on or scratching my SE. it’s perfectly capable as an entry level watch.

Is this for the non-cellular S3? My non-cellular S3 is still telling me I don't have enough space to update...

Have you been keeping it up to date with the last few minor updates? The problem was fixed for me an update or two ago, and WatchOS8 installed without that old hassle reoccurring (albeit glacially, as usual).

I love it. Gives both mine and my wife’s S3 another year of updates and therefore another year of life before we have to pay for tons of (to us) meaningless and silly features that later models, including the SE, came with.

To be honest, I don't see the reason to update beyond the S3. None of the features are game changes for the price
A big one is actual storage. The s3 only has 8GB memory, in order to update the watch it had to be factory reset as there wasn't enough room for the update

I have the LTE version and it does not require the process. The WIFI one is a PITA to update
