I have a 2.6 i7, 16Gb, 2012 MBP with 2 x SSDs, OCLP running Monterey. Ive had it since 2020 & Ive never had any issues with it.
Tonight notices one of the fans noisy, so I turned it off, opened it up, removed & cleaned both fans & the metal mesh (on the body) against the fans.
When I put the fans back in & went to turn it on nothing happened - no fan spin & did not turn on.
It was then I realised I forgot to disconnect the battery before I disconnected the fans...surely that isnt enough to kill it?!
When I plug the charger in, the battery light/s come on to show it's charging, & the charger connector turned orange until it reached "full charge" & then turned green.
I've tried the following:
- removing the battery & turning on with just charger connected,
- holding down power button for 8 seconds,
- pressing & holding power/alt/control for 5 seconds, then pressing just power.
None of the above worked.
With & without the battery connected the green light on the charger connector lights up, & if the battery indicator button is pressed it lights up.
I'm really worried I've somehow fried the logic board...🙁
Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
