Dear fellow Apple users,

after buying a new 4s I downloaded a few apps for it, each and every app is in my native language or in English, except the Facebook app. It looks like this:

I tried these things without any changes happening:
- reset the device
- delete and reinstall the app
- update the OS to the newest version
- change language within the app (no option)
- change the language within Safari and then opening the App
- triple check if I downloaded the right app

As I mentioned, the 4s is just a few days old, has the newest OS version, is not jailbroken, and every other app is on my native language or in English. Trough Safari is everything fine, but the App just won't work properly.

Google is also not helpful...

I would be thankful if someone could give an input on what to do, since I pretty much tried everything which fell on my mind. Thank you!

Have you checked your phone's settings in relation to something like that at Settings > General > International

Thank you for your reply C DM, I did, it didn't help. I even tried to transfer the OS language to English, didn't help.

The thing is, we can't return it because of just one damn app, so it's really frustrating.

I also tried it on the desktop version (Safari on the computer and on the phone) and still no luck, I just can't believe that I'm the only one with this problem :/

Well, seems like others have ran into similar issues but the language change got it resolved for them.

Have you tried checking your Facebook settings in Settings > Facebook on the phone? Perhaps sign out from whatever account you have there, then delete the app, (maybe restart the phone), install the app again, and launch and sign in through it again?

No mate, the guys from those links are referring to the desktop version, not the app itself.

Thanks for your ideas, but I've already tried them :/

And the Chinese language is before I even login to my account, so the account language has possibly no connection with it.

I tried to download the same version of the app on my other 4s, and I got the English language, logged in, again English.

The same steps on this new 4s, and I get the Chinese version.

It seems like somethings wrong with the phone, although I kinda doubt it, but how can a clean, reseted, updated and two day old phone have just ONE APP on Chinese, but every other one normal.

I will again try to return the phone and update the thread...

Have you actually logged in using that one with Chinese to see if it would change to English based on your account settings once you log in?

:)

Yes, I noted it in the initial post.
My bad, forgot about that after all the discussion since then.

Well...not sure what else there is to do after all that, aside perhaps from restoring the phone to see if you'll get the right version of Facebook after that.
