Accept no imitations. I'm struggling to avoid the use of the word 'official'... but there better be no aping of this thread. :)

OK. Let's start off with a characteristic piece of understatement from Philippa Boyens:

"I know I shouldn't say this," she begins, "but when other directors see this movie, they're going to f---ing give up."

The Daily Mail swoons in possibly the first review online:

...jaw-droppingly brilliant: the most entertaining blockbuster movie this year.

Daily Mail Review continued...

I'm a big Peter Jackson fan and am very keen to see this as soon as possible after release in less than a fortnight's time... a friend of mine with a passion for the original 1933 version has even got BAFTA preview invites to see it at the end of next week.

Here's a picture to whet the appetite:

Meh. :D

So, how good is King Kong? At its best moments its action and emotion are peerless...

...Jackson is a master artist in the midst of a series of artistic achievement that leaves the viewer wondering what, and looking forward to, whatever he might do next.

Kong — the film — accomplishes something pretty astounding. It carries the weight of a gigantic spectacle of a film but it also is able to hoist and run with its own history.

I'll definitely be checking it out as well. I think Jackson did an excellent job with LOTR, so I want to make sure that wasn't a fluke and that he's still got it. ;) Come on Peter, impress me again with your directing skills!

I'll probably be hitting this one opening night.

There was no movie before, where I thought: "Man, I goota see that as soon as possible."

I'm so freakin' keen about King Kong (where an ape rulez $upreme)!

This movie is going to roxxorz my boxxorz, or something like that. I saw the preview, and when Kong sees the Trex is moving in on his lady, he doesn't like that one bit. That is one pissed off monkey!

I can't wait. I love the original, and this is a re-make of the original. It should be sexy.

This is a babysitter movie.

Which, for me, is a compliment - it means that I'm willing to pay a babysitter to watch my kids so that I can go see a movie with my wife, effectively doubling the price of the movie.

So it better be good. :D

Everytime I watch the trailer I get pumped at the end when Kong jumps up and slaps the airplane wing off. I can't wait to see it. Definitley, babysitter material. I am intrigued by Jackson's decision to release the production materials DVD the day before launch. An interesting marketing tactic for the "true" fans.

I hope he doesn't make the two main male characters questionably gay again. That was weird.

There probably won't be 2 main male characters in this movie at all, but if there's a sexually awkward scene between Kong and the girl, I'm going to walk out all confused again.

Tie up your shoelaces, apparently there's a slightly mushy scene set in Central Park...

...which is interrupted by a barrage of artillery fire. :D

Spoiler!

Here's an approx 20mb .mov of the entire vine sequence which leads up to the scene you describe, it's about 2 mins or so. Unfortunately recorded via camera from a TV but it's good enough to get the idea — and it looks great!

They don't like it when you incorrectly call them 'monkeys'

Especially librarians..........

If Kong is really smooth with the girl, men in general will have a difficult time living it down. I can imagine some unfortunate guy on the receiving end of this: "Please get your paws off of me and stop acting like a horny gorilla."

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!

That looks like it's going to be a LOT of fun. Not even my type of movie, but from that clip alone (and a love of gorillas) I'll be going to see that....

I never saw any version of King Kong...

So when I saw the trailer for this in the theater, I was entrigued. But I don't know if I can 'handle' watching it in the theater; it seems sooo sad! I don't want to end up crying there. Gosh, I'm such a wuss.

Being confused would not be the first time for you, Abstract. ;) :D

That was so awesome that I had to quit the window after a few seconds as I did not want to spoil myself silly. And here I am thinking that trailers show the best bits of a movie.

I'm very excited for this movie. I remember being very excited when the first trailer came out. I'll be seeing it sometime soon. I'll try and go opening weekend, but I don't want to deal with lines, so who knows.

I'm curious, is their Oscar buzz surrounding this movie? Or is it just supposed to be a fun movie?
