Canadian women are being asked to volunteer their underwear in an international effort to shame Burma's ruling junta into improving its human rights.

They are being asked to send their knickers to the Burmese embassy in Ottawa.

Organisers say the ruling military junta believes native superstitions that contact with women's undergarments can sap a man's power.
