My friend busted the screen on his 10.5" iPad Pro. A warranty repair isn't possible. Can anyone recommend the best source for a knockoff screen?

Yeah, I did. I received an official Apple replacement part. I had it installed and it's still working great. Make sure you get the adhesive strips to go with it.

I’m also curious. Only place to get genuine Apple parts is from Apple directly or a AASP which won’t sell parts to the public.. Is it a screen salvaged from another 10.5 pro?

Yeah, it said "reconditioned" or something to that effect if I recall correctly. I didn't notice any defects or oddities like I'd seen with some iPhone replacement screens.
