Is talk of Kodi "Taboo" on this site ?

I have never seen the mention, yet many Mac users get much of their TV and movies from this free online app.

What's up folks ? a2

I think taking about Kodi itself is fine.

Taking about Kodi add-ons that allow the unlicensed streaming of copyrighted material is not afaik.

I use Kodi on my windows htpc to play locally-stored files. I stream files from Vudu, Netflix, iTunes, and Google Play movies.

You choose your words well. "afik" did throw me though. LOL

BTW, we learned about Kodi from the CBC. Regards. a2

I checked my post and it does say afaik (as far as I know) :)

I have been using Kodi for playback for many years. I started using it on my windows 7 htpc. I have never used nor was I interested in any Kodi add-ons for streaming.

Once I moved to a htpc with an nVidia 1050Ti gpu and 4k tv, I switched to using MPC-BE and madVR for the upscaling options.

Yes, Kodi has the 4k graphic tech down pat. My goal eventually is go VR, big time, as in "Ready Player One", with sensor suit, tread mill, and all. LOL. Only waiting for Apple to sell me a good, upscale graphics machine to get me started.

I see you have gone back to Windows for your graphic stuff. I spent many years dealing with Microsoft, and don't want to go back, but if that's the end game for VR... I will.

Side lights: We live just across the BIG lake from you. Wife is from Toronto, and we all watch Hockey, and Kodi too. a2

The problem with Kodi is the fact that it does not use madVR to perform any upscaling that I need for non-4k films. madVR does an excellent job with upscaling.

I use Windows because that's what madVR needs.

Many people are either in the Mac group or Windows group. I personally move from group to group :D
