They are so unreliable and often times my MacBook would be half drained until I notice that the plug isn't fully seated (which most times are imperceptible to the eye). I always use OEM cables.

While I haven't had your particular issue I did have the ports replaced on my 2017 MBP. USBC is not a great connector IMHO and no where near as robust as others.

God knows why people want this port on phones, I see these being very problematic on devices that get heavy use. For devices that get plugged in once and left to sit (like an indoor camera) they are probably fine but I doubt they will hold up well on devices where the cables are inserted and removed many times a day.

I agree. I understand the appeal of having a USB-C Standard for devices, but the connector sucks compared to lightning (and others).

Honestly, I wished Lightning was made opensource, improved and made standard instead of USB-C. It is a solid connector. USB-C is bigger and has more play making it more unreliable, especially overtime.

I find the quality of USB-C varies cable to cable. Some cables have this satisfying firm *click* when they're seated properly and all the way in. On the other hand, some cables feel like you're poking a ripe banana with your finger.

The mechanical quality of the connection is so much better with Lightning compared to USB-C. USB-C is just loose, you move the attached laptop and the cable is no longer firmly connected. Happens all the time with my Windows office PC.

The technical abilities of USB-C (speed, multifunctionality) with the grip of Lightning would be a wedding in heaven.

Agreed. I've only USB-C in the car. So whilst the Ph snaps into place firmly, the car end fights to stay in place during maneuvering.
