I just want damn headphones. Play music and podcasts make them sound good. Give me noise cancelling. That’s all I want. That’s all I ever want. I don’t need or want health garbage in my headphones. Even the AirPod Max is overpriced, too heavy, and can’t use a physical connection for higher audio quality.

Except for not having Apple’s easy pairing (with apple products at least) and the stupid product names; Sony’s latest WFs and WHs really beat out apple’s headphones across the board (and this is from someone who uses the AirPods like 2/3s of the day).
not sony's fault their headphones dont pair easily with ios devices (at least they have a dedicated app which is even more effective and works better than apple's) . tell apple to fix up and release fast pair connectivity api to 3rd party headphones manufacturers

I hope the microphone will sound better.
The AirPods Pro are one of the best, yet they sound like you have a hand on your mouth.

The new Sony and Beats are even worse in that department, so the competition isn't really there. (Don't quote me for calling Beats an Apple competitor please 😅)

Every other Apple product is starting to come in colors, so these will come in colors.... right?

C'monnnnn darker colored Airpod Pros! C'mon!!!

Upgraded my AirPods Gen 2 to the AirPods Pro earlier this month and it’s a night and day difference. Huge improvement in sound quality. The ANC is incredible. I think the current Pros are a strong buy, especially with the ongoing sales.

I just want Apple to make good sounding headphones along with the leverage they already have in their ecosystem. I’d love if they’d make them easier to pair with non Apple devices too (I assume it’s possible but haven’t bothered).
I’ve read comments about pairing issues before; is it that problematic among non apple items? I realize I may have just gotten lucky, but the bluetooth speakers and various bluetooth headphones I’ve used have paired perfectly fine with my iphone and macs. And my headphones tend toward the cheap side for my situation: adrenaline-rush heavy metal at the gym, podcasts everywhere else - no studio caliber listening device required.

I hate how products become obsolete so fast now. I know that my pros will still work just fine after these release, but the problem with tech nowadays is they rely heavily on software updates and interoperability with other devices. Headphones from 20 years ago still work today, even with iPhone (albeit with an adapter) or anything else for that matter, but I don’t think my pros will be compatible with devices in even 10 years time. I guess that’s just technology but I’m getting a little fatigued buying new tech all the time.

The current generation airpods pros are crap when it comes to phone calls. The person you're talking to can hear the background noise louder than your voice. I'm surprised no one is talking about this.
I've never experienced this and I've never heard this when watching video interviews shown on TV where the remote person is using them. Regardless, I think Apple said at WWDC21 that speaker isolation was a new feature in the works.

I guess I’ll just continue to enjoy my gen 1 in the meantime, while at the same time getting them replaced when the static issue pops back up, lol.

Why so far away….
The pandemic....if you listened to The Verge or even MacBreak Weekly, Rene Ritchie and/or Nilay Patel mentioned how there is a severe supply issue in acquiring the chips needed to make these devices. Apple might have a lock on their H1, M1, etc chips, but the other chips that are needed such as accelerometers are the bottleneck. I'm sure this is the reason why Apple is pushing these back until early 2022.

I'm a daily runner (thank you COVID for making me still afraid of gyms)... I'm thinking I would definitely buy these if they tracked miles, calories burned, workout sessions, etc. Basically an independent companion to the Fitness app.
pretty sure there's not gonna be mileage tracking here - a gps chip not gonna work in airpods. step counter maybe...but since you have to have a phone/watch in proximity for the AirPods to work, those sort of activities already tracked by default. they're prob thinking along the lines of more ability for heart rate sensors, hearing, temperature, etc. vs activity specific tracking.

How about we get rid of the watch while at it. If all I needed were headphones and they had onboard music storage and tracking, I’d be all in

Have you tried spatial audio with the AirPod Pros and a compatible device? Even watching something simple, like The Office, it's pretty neat and something people will really come to appreciate.

I have some Sony top end WH headphones and they are good at what they do (keep me focused during work from home). They can't do spatial audio, though.

Yes, that is technology and it will continue endlessly. It is up to you to choose whether on not you need or want them. as long as your old ones work and you are happy with them, then you should be good....I am not being sarcastic here, just honest. Small things (cheap) I will constantly upgrade, but the more expensive ones I don't. That is why I stay away from exotic materials for the Apple watch, because then it becomes closer to jewelry as opposed to volatile technology.

I’d love for Apple to use the past design of their original Bluetooth headset for inspiration on upcoming headsets. The original headset had a design more akin to the current iPhone 12 Pro or iPad Pro’s with straight lines instead of the curvy molded plastic of today’s headsets and looked far more modern than any current headset designs. It could even allow for larger batteries, to give the headsets 6-8 hour battery life.

I don’t need or even necessarily want the headset to become something that sits flush in my outer ear, requiring me to pry it out when I’m done using them. I like the short microphone shaft because it’s something easy to grab, and as noted, it could have sharper lines to it instead of the q-tip current style, imho.
