Apple, like all US importers, will pass the tax onto US consumers. Likewise, other countries will institue tariffs on Apple IP and services, leading to higher prices on Apple products elsewhere.

Moving production to India won't work, as it only takes a quick stroke of Trump's pen to increase tariffs from India and lose 100% of the cost of moving production.

The orange dictator thinks these measures will make Amerika rich. Also, as if other countries won't retaliate with their own countermeasures. Allnof this because he mad that Europeans don't buy American cars, not realising or not willing to accept they just aren't good enough.
Europeans buy few American cars because a majority of the vehicles producted by American companies are huge. If one were to look at the top selling vehicles in Europe, they'd see that, with a few exceptions, they're mostly small vehicles (i.e. hatchbacks) and tiny CUVs.

American car companies have pretty much eliminated smaller vehicles from their line up in favor of large trucks and SUVs because they're more profitable.

The import tariffs come into affect immediately. These suggestions will take time to implement. What are Apple going to do today? Immediately raise prices in the US or lose margin until they figure out what to do?

Or Apple can move its legal seat in any other country in the world and avoid them altogether. Or at the very least create separate legal identities that license the whole production.

I guess creating American manufacturing is just not going to be considered.
That’s going to take years to happen. And it will involve more than just building factories. It will require educating the generation coming up and training workers. But here’s the kick in the head: We can expect much of that manufacturing to be done by robots. So job gains will be minimal.

Must make sure the greedy little pig stays fat! Not against capitalism at all, but those are very healthy margins already, even of the tariffs are not mitigated. Understanding obligations to shareholder etc, but Apple already has a huge amount of fat in the game so is not exactly squealing.

I agree, last time the US had tariffs like this it led to the great depression. Let's see if history repeats itself. Even if the EU and the rest of the world doesn't impose tariffs back I think many of American made products will be boycotted by consumers.

Not to mention that quite a few American vehicles don't even fit on many European roads (the local ones).

(Note: I got to drive a BMW 5 Series in Ireland a few years ago- even that car, made in Europe, was slightly problematic on some of the rural roads I found myself on. I couldn't even imagine a large American pick up or SUV.)

If I was American, I would've traded him in to at least a Product Red or a midnight.
The new Titanium is good too, and probably more reliable and lasting then Orange 😉

I think Apple will just absorb the cost, at least for a while. They’ll have to live with lower profits for a few months, but I don’t think we’ll see any real change from Apple until they release new products in the fall.
I think it depends if the supply chain costs go down aswell.
