Siri already does that.

I never said Apple Silicon was intended to do deep learning.

Some people were simply asking, "Why doesn't Apple use their own chips instead of buying NVIDIA?"

It’s a weird assumption that Apple would use their consumer level mass produced chips for this.

From where I'm sitting most people aren't interested in that — they don't care about knowledge, getting smarter, learning new languages — they only care about the latest Tik Tok or Instagram or Facebook post/meme/joke/fail…

All that knowledge at our fingertips you say… and look where we are.

Yes. Great. But before internet and all that you’re condemning here, these same people existed. I can assure you they were not sitting in libraries scouring encyclopaedia or reading science journals.

So for all of the people that don’t care about this knowledge base, or for all the people using it for evil - there are still all the people using it to progress society.

The same as always, only now much more accessible.

I don’t know. It depends on what you use it for. I recently tried a few experiments on getting ChatGPT to write me various things, songs, a bio, a short story, based around a few keywords. It’s pretty damn impressive. I think if you’re asking it to give you some kind of opinion then you’re using it wrong. Aside anything else it’s two years out of date with current affairs, current tech or anything else.

It was the first thing I thought of when they said there would be AI in Siri. I think the fact that they didn’t charge for the original Siri is what made them not so inclined to work on it long ago.

You know it's useless for China to invade Taiwan just for TSMC right? TSMC is useless if ASML stops selling them machines.

I'm not saying ASML will continue selling TSMC machines if controlled by China at all. China wants to invade and take full control of Taiwan due to geopolitical reasons. It will be extremely disruptive if and when this happens. In 20 years there's almost no chance Taiwan remains independent.
