But people on here told me that Apple would never copy Samsung
Get a clue. Just because Apple is investigating something doesn’t mean they’re going to produce it. And to top it off this is just a rumor from an analyst with questionable sources, you know, the same guy who has been predicting an Apple HDTV for years. As far as foldable phones are concerned they have already jumped the shark, no one is buying them. There is no market. It’s a solution in search of a problem.

Foldable phones are little more than a gimmick, like 3D tvs. Remember 3D tvs? They were being massively hyped - and nobody bought. How many 3D tvs do you see on the market now?

Not even Android folk are really all that excited about foldables. If they were, you'd see them everywhere.

Maybe instead of making foldable devices, Apple can focus on releasing iOS versions that don't require a zillion patches and updates to deliver the functionality promised at launch?
3D TV required expensive passive or active 3D glasses per person. This adds a lot of barrier to adoption. Samsung Folds are just really expensive, but they don't require additional add-ons to work. Not sure how someone can even compare the demise of 3D TV to a folding phone. Folding phones are not a gimmick; they are the future.

I’m not able to see the utility in this. definitely not something I would want to pay more for. can’t imagine when 1 foldable screen would ever be worth more than 2 separate (less-expensive) screens. now when “foldables” have essentially no depth (like a 60”+ TV screen that rolls up like a rug) then maybe. but we’re talking about computing devices here. once you’ve maxed out on performance you really just want the thing not to break - so durability should be the next frontier. give me ipads and iphones that don’t need cases.

iFold XDR Pro ?

To date, foldable screens have been a single continuous flexible display. But with Micro LED, the pixels can go right to the edge making it possible for a foldable to be two separate displays with an invisible seem.

If it folds with the screens outward, it could be like a double-sided iPhone... that opens to a 9 inch screen.

Samsung's Micro LED TVs are multiple tiles that install on a wall over a substrate... the pixels go right too the edge... the seems disappear.

Just think (different): that would be iPad-sized screen that can fold into a size that fits in a pocket. Big screen for bigger-screen benefits and pocketable for hands-free mobility benefits... in ONE device!!!
lol...not possible. That would cut into their profit margin.

I mean.. are we really waiting for this?

A phone with a projector/hologram seems nicer as you can watch movies on walls ect.
What is the added value of foldable screens?
Hope you like 10 minute battery life.😏

I'll be interested once the technology matures ie becomes cheap and reliable. Remember when CD/DVD/BluRay first hit the market? Y'all had to be rich or have misplace priorities to own one. Once the technology matured, everybody and their monkeys had 3 or more.

I'll get myself a foldable once they can be had for a song.😙

The fold device is not feasible for a simple reason that they are priced so high you can buy an phone and a tablet both instead.

I believe Apple is the one feeding Kuo with these rumors off record. They know if they can get the word out they working on this too, it will upset the competition and make users pause buying decisions until they see what Apple has to offer.
No. The Apple patent applications have been a matter of public record, and been part of Mac rumor sites, for years. In addition, no customer is going to wait four years just to see what Apple is possibly going to come out with.

Good you all deserve it :)

You wonder why I don't post how to.

Fordable phones are not going to be any better anyway.

And why the heck would Apple want to sell you 1 $1200 foldable device when they can sell you 2 $1000 devices.

By 2025, foldable will either be the norm, or will be non-existent. Apple is just too smart in this regard. Any idea that gains any staying power without Apple's involvements means they have a market to absolutely dominate when they're ready. If, it even exists.
