The sheer amount of debugging, validation testing, reworking and more validation testing to have a single chip that can handle cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and location awareness, et al. seems like a recipe for disaster.

Seems us ginny pigs will test these new phones before fixed iphone 18 comes out lol

Makes sense to keep them separate first to not overcomplicate things and to make sure everything works as expected. I’m sure in time they will combine and then integrate directly into the A chips. I feel like Apple should focus on Apple Watch too since it’s still WiFi 4 and I don’t think it even has LTEA

It’s good that they are not combining everything in one chip right now, as they are the first gen apple designed modem/wifi chips and might have unanticipated delays or other teething issues.

I think once apple gets comfortable with designing these specific functions into their own chips, they will then combine these into a combo chip, or even just place everything into the a or m series apple processor chips, if it makes it easier/less expensive for them
You’ll also start to see it in their portables, too.

Was expecting it to be a single chip. If they are separate, then the chances of a cellular Mac being launched is low.
