It looks like Kuycon, maker of many Apple look-alike displays, is at it again. I don't see it on their U.S. website yet but the retailer ClickClack.io has it listed for sale at $1,699.

Stated specs:
Kuycon G32P
31.5″ 6K (6144×3456) - 223 ppi
60Hz, native 10-bit, 500 cd/m², HDR10, 2000:1
99% sRGB, 99% DCI-P3, ΔE<2
DP 2.1 (UHBR20), 2x HDMI 2.1 (48Gbps), USB-C (TB 4/5, USB4, PD 100W, DP AM), USB 2.0 hub (2x USB-C), 3.5-mm audio out, VESA 10×10-cm mount, remote control

Let's collect info in this thread and see if this is "the one" for some of us.

I think THIS is the only thing holding back Kuycon from having massive success in the U.S. with Mac users (and Windows users, for that matter).

WARNING, WARNING, WARNING!

The below was information I received after contacting Kuycon.us. Other posters are now reporting that Kuycon.us is fake and that Clickclack.io is an authorized retailer. I don't know either way. Do not take the below as gospel. We will see how this shakes out.

------------------------------------------

I have very interesting new info directly from Kuycon:

1. Clickclack.io is not an authorized retailer and Kuycon won’t honor warranty if buying from them. Kuycon expects to list on their website for US sales soon.
2. Panel is native 10-bit.
3. Glossy panel!!
4. Similar to Dell U3224KB panel but glossy instead of matte and brighter backlight.
5. Similar image quality to G27P but less anti reflective coating applied. Chassis similar to P32K.

WARNING, WARNING, WARNING! See top of this post.

Except those aren’t Kuycon’s policies, they’re Click Clack’s.

Click Clack isn’t sketchy, though. I think it just means if there are problems then you’re working through them, not directly with Kuycon. That might not be a bad thing.

You may be right, but it doesn't change anything.

I know for a fact that Kuycon's policy is to send the hardware back to them overseas for repairs – The shipping time and cost for returns or repairs alone is enough to keep most people from risking a purchase on them. According to people on Reddit who have purchased their displays, the entire experience of returns/repairs is expensive, the company unresponsive, and the results unsatisfying.

To be fair, there are plenty of people sharing positive results with Kuycon's displays... and it's not like Kuycon is a "run out of the garage" two-bit operation. But the bottom line is that dealing with them is a huge unknown, and until it isn't, they're always going to be an "also-ran."

Could you provide links? I would like to inform myself and am having trouble finding those stories.

When you say you know for a fact, does that mean you’ve had bad experiences as well?

I would hate for this to be another Dough/Eve monitors situation.

Call Kuycon for their warranty/repair/replacement policies. As far as the stories, one needs only to search for Kuycon Displays over at Reddit (or even Google)... that's what I did.

I was looking at Kuycon Displays a little over a year ago as an alternative to the Apple Studio Display. After reading reviews and a ton of discussions on various sites, I decided the better option was the ASD.

Can you provide links? I'm not having luck. Reddit search.

This seems a little strange? Why not have the same amount of anti reflective coating. Surely it's a good thing.

Perhaps @MacGizmo is remembering the Reddit source for this post in the 5K thread: #258 — scroll down the page for someone else who actually bought one direct (#259, #270, #273). Note this is the older G27-X which is thicker. The more recent G27P is thinner and may use a different panel. Kuycon currently sells them both.

I’ve been reading through that 5K thread, thinking about revising the Wikipost, which has not been updated since 2023.

No, it's not a MacRumors post I'm thinking of. A search on Reddit brings up numerous different threads, and a Google search still more reviews. I'm not sure why it's so difficult to find... even the "Search Reddit" link enc0re provided above shows an entire page of results.

Incidentally, in the process of trying to find out more about Kuycon displays, I also discovered that clickclak doesn't exactly have a stellar reputation overall. While there appear to be plenty of happy customers, I found just as many who were not happy with their customer service, and/or the products they bought were used (sold as new), missing pieces/parts or otherwise not what they were expecting based on the product page they bought it from.

For myself – these types of reviews/issues are what puts both Kuycon and clickclack squarely in the category of "if it's too good to be true, it usually is." I don't trust every review I read; if Amazon teaches us anything, it's that you can't trust reviews. But until Kuycon appears in virtually every display review comparing it to the ASD, in the United States, I just don't feel it's worth the potential for aggravation to save a few hundred bucks.

Here are your claims that I am unable to find the story on. For the sake of discussion, please pretend that I am a charming but very stupid Golden Retriever. Can you please provide links for your claims?

I have no stake in Kuycon's reputation. If they are trash, I want to know before potentially buying a monitor from them. I was not able to find the problems you speak of, let along multiple instances as you claim.

Agree with regard to the Apple Studio Display. $1198 ($1099 + $99) + $249 (shipping) for the G27P versus $1599 isn’t a huge difference.

Both G27P and G32P are BOE LG Display IPS Black panels.

We’re talking about the G32P here — a 6K display. So not parallel to the ASD, and US pricing on the upcoming Acer, ASUS, and LG 6K displays is unknown. The Acer is announced at EUR 1199, so around USD $1350, before tariffs. Dell is currently listing the MSRP as $2999 (up from $2499 at launch) for theirs.

I remain hopeful (no expectations) Apple is going to do something with the Pro Display this year. But I’m preparing to look elsewhere if they don’t.

If you're thinking of buying the Kuycon from ClickClack, just discovered shipping to the U.S. cost $180. No tax applied though... So it's really $1700 + $180 = $1,880.00 (ha, auto-correct automatically did the math on that).

It is now available on the official website!

Really tempted to order one, do we now if the panels have constistent quality?

If money were no object, I also would be tempted to order one just for side-by-side comparison with the ASD. The specs on this one look really, REALLY nice!

It's saying it's an LG panel and glossy. I wonder if that means the Ultrafine is imminent then...

Yes, based on what Dough has said, "Nano IPS Black" means IPS Black 2.0. It's the next-generation IPS from LG Display, a step beyond the original IPS Black used in the Dell 6K in 2023 (surely Dell will also update to this new panel?)

It may not, however, be the same panel as the one in the mysterious, award-winning LG UltraFine 6K -- we'll just have to wait and see. I'm hoping the LG will have a true miniLED backlight. I think the silence at CES about details other than simply showing that it exists is probably good -- the lockdown could mean Apple is involved.
