I have just installed a Belkin 2-port USB KVM switch to connect a Mac Mini with a Dell computer. It worked fine for about 2 hours. Now, however, it switches automatically from the Mac to the PC after about 5 seconds and stays with the PC. If I hit the reset button, it goes back to the Mac for 5 seconds and again returns to the PC. What went wrong and how do I fix it?

KVM switch problem

Those KVMs are pretty simple things - I suspect a faulty device that failed shortly after being used for the first time. Was it bought online, or can you return it pretty easily? It certainly sounds like it's broken. FWIW, if you change the KB and mouse connections (i.e., plug the mini where the PC was plugged, and vice versa), does it keep switching to the mini? That's the behavior I'd expect to see.
