Yes. Unfortunately every time someone improperly quotes, does a "first post!", or anything else generally annoying Arn is forced to feed another cute and cuddly kitten (or puppy as the situation warrants) to the trolls who run the servers.

Please don't feed us to the trolls

That's funny -- the little border collie pup looks exactly like my pup when I adopted her at 8 weeks. Very cute indeed. :)

This will be a 25-part series on forum pet peeves.

Is this a new trend or have my panties been on too tight lately?

... perhaps unquotable for the first 25 replies or so. No one needs to be hit on the head with the thread subject of discussion each and every time.

Pet Peeves Part 2 of 25 coming soon.

someone needs to lighten up a bit or move up to the next size of panties- if you start making a lot of noise, some people might go out of their way to make it worse ;)

So in the next 24, might there be any MAC vs. Mac, grammar, spelllling, OMG!!, etc.....

It might be best sometimes to try not letting these things bother you so, since no matter what you say, there will always be people who will continue to do them.

Good luck!

I was tempted to report your post, until I realized you were a Mod. :p

Thank you for saying this.

Many times things aren't an issue until someone brings it up.

Wait a minute...
Are you saying that those panties make his/her a** look big?

I've only been married for a little under 4 years but I know better than that.....:D

you can report a mod - there's nothing wrong with that and sometimes we might get carried away - but not often :D

D :p

i agree with removing the 'quote' option from the first post of the topic. it's not big and it's not clever, all this quoting of the whole article. i think i've done it once, by mistake, and was so repulsed by myself after realising, i vowed never to visit macrumors again, while drunk.

I know better than to report a Mod. ;)

This came from the forum rules...
One thing to remember is that moderators are people too. You can piss them off or get on their "bad side".... this isn't being unfair, or trying to threaten any of you. This is being human.

But I wouldn't report you anyway.

Is this finally the evidence we need to make a determination?
What, you guys don't wear panties? Is that just me? My ex seemed to like that. Of course, she turned out to be a lesbian.

Wait, what were we talking about again?

Lacero is a lesbian?

;) (taking quotes out of context should be a pet peeve but it is so evilishly delightful... )

First we have to find out if he or she is a he or she.

Would explain a lot. I know my curiosity is peaked, even though I try not to ask out of courtesy. What do you want to bet this is one of the next pet peeves though?

Forwards

I have a similar problem with a certain relative who forwards me forwards of forwards without cutting out the extra copies. What do I do? I forward it back and forth to myself a few dozen times and send it back. She has yet to get the hint, but it makes me feel better. :)

The trick with feeding kittens and puppies is that they're like cars. Their parts are worth more than their whole. Run them through the chop shop first. It may seem cruel, but you'll save more furry friends in the long run.

All that said, the ability to quote is too important to chop all together. I just wish everyone understood that their points are much clearer if they delete all but the part of the quote they're addressing.

Perhaps a little code to the "Quote" button script:

If length(quoted text) >200 characters, then Popup Window ("Remember to delete all but the portions of the quote being directly addressed.")

or something like that?

Lacero - try Boxer Briefs. The support of briefs and the comfort of boxers. Who could want more? That's why I'm so pleasant!

something that was touched upon, but not directly stated...

THE most annoying thing is in the monthly desktops or pics of 'your set up', someone posts a huge image, and then after that is 15 pages of the the image, plus "sweet..."

Maybe the MR site can be 'adjusted' so that when quoting a post with a picture, the 'quote' includes a link to the image instead of the image.
