I agree with you. But I see lots of posts by people looking for just a late night backup option. And some people dont want to spend the time/effort of putting an external drive setup together from different vendors.

Just thought I would help to limit those threads for the week. :)

I checked MacMall before posting as that is where I have purchased items in the past.

The FW version is $135 PLUS shipping of $10 to $20 (there seems to be a rebate form to file to get the shipping cost back). That gives the FW version about a 28-37% premium over the USB. And at that price, the build your own setup becomes a good arguement.

Same here, if it had firewire then I would consider going for it- still a good deal though. :)

I have this exact model and it hasn't given me a problem at all. It's amazing for storing all my movies and backing up my itunes library. I recommend it.
