Lacie 500gb D2 Safe drive good?

Looking into buying a new firewire drive. It looks like the new SAFE drive from Lacie looks pretty good. i was wondering if anyone is using it and would like to hear some feedbacks.

I wont buy that drive or any drive that needs my finger prints, I am afread that one day it wont accept it and all my data will be lost.
