I current have a late 2014 Mac mini connected to my network it has a 1tb ssd and I am using it as a media server to my TV and a local NAS for my MBP. I am wanting to add an external drive and I am torn between a LaCie d2 Professional 8TB Or WD MY BOOK EXTERNAL the WD turns out to be. Over 100 EUR cheaper. Now I don’t have the Mac mini on 24/7 just in the days and it off all night. Which would be a better choice? Is the LaCie d2 too much? I want good quality drive that’s very reliable

The My Book should be fine. I’ve purchased several, taken them apart, and used the drives in NAS systems that are running 24/7. Haven’t had one fail yet. And the electronics in the My Book should be fine.
