Lacie External HD ...windows recongize

When I received my external hd, I just plugged it into my powerbook and started using it. The other day I tried to plug it into my windows xp machine, and it recognized it, but it was not showing the external device in the "my computer" folder, and therefore I could not access it, or copy anything to it.

Does this have something to do with the formatting of the hd. What could I do so I could store files on it from both my mac and windows computer.

Any suggestions appreciated

you could install this so that the windows box can recognize the HFS formatted HD
