Hey all,
found my 500gb lacie firewire drive today.
Moved house a while ago, and couldnt fint it.
Anyway, it was stored safe, and now i plug it all in, powers up fine, hear it making its usual noise. But it wont come up on my desktop.
Any suggestions?
My 80gb WD passport usb drive is working fine and appearing on my desktop as an external drive.
Help!
Thanks!

1) Check that Finder ---> Preferences ---> General has "Hard Disks" checked to "show on the desktop"

2) Wiggle the cables?

Check if the drive shows up in Disk Utility! Also try connecting it through a different cable and port!

Have you tried what Arran has said?

Also, whats the color of the HDD's name in DU? Is it grey or black?
What is the File System of the HDD? If it's HFS+, select the HDD in DU and click on First Aid! Repair both permissions and disk!

I hate to tell you this but I would not use LACIE for my external drive.
That thing gets real hot and I cannot tell how many of LACIE died on me.
We now use LACIE as a tape backup and not leaving it on unless we need it.
