Getting closer...

I might pay $200 for a box that holds disk drives inside and has a TB interface.

I'm accustomed to buying bare drives and putting them into enclosures. Here we have two 2TB WD green drives (presumably) that would cost ~$200 together, and then we have a better-than-average dual enclosure that would normally cost ~ $100. That puts the addition of the Thunderbolt connectivity under or around $250.

If you're not the type to build external manually, then you need only compare to WD's non-TB dual enclosure external, such as:

At $350, we're still looking at a ~$200 premium for TB connectivity, which is approaching my value threshold. I've got my eye on this drive and will purchase when it drops to $499
