Lack of Space Black Stainless watches AGAIN!

I ordered myself a 44mm SBSS and it arrive last Friday.

I wanted to get another so at 6 am I ordered an additional one but it is not due to the end of the month or first week of October. Did Apple run out of SBSS models again. I thin they are always kinda short, maybe just high demand!

I placed my order 45 minutes after the store opened for preorders. My SBSS S4 44mm is showing Oct 5-12 with no movement to ship yet. Orders made today like you saw arrive just before the end of October. I think what you are seeing is the general slow nature of fulfilling early orders of a brand new redesign which causes 1) pent up demand to be unleashed and 2) the manufacturing lines to not be up to full speed because of the redesign. I'm sure next year when the Series 5 launches with the same basic design as the Series 4 the delays won't be near as bad.
 
I’m pretty sure the Space Black watches are made to order or kept with a very low inventory as they are more niche.

Why do you so hung up with the space black color? It is a 4 year old color. With other colors, if you wear it with black band, outside the color frame, the screen color is black too. What is a big deal?

Have no problem with them being more expensive. All three of my Apple watches have been space black and I remember waiting for the SO or S1 long ago. I like it and after a year of wearing them all of them still look brand new.

Because it is what I and this friend wants.

When you ordered did you tell them to send just what ever they had?

"4 years old color" LOL!

Silver has that beat for sure. Just cause you could not get pink for yourself . . . .
 
Yeah SB is definitely the lowest stock by far. You can actually find SS silver and gold around my area without much of a problem. No SB in sight though. I assume it's less about high demand and more about manufacturing process. Shame that they're so delayed though.

I know I found a few in NJ, on istocknow.com, but that's not at all worth it to me.

Yes I am pretty sure it is the extra time required to get it coated and then assembled afterwards.

Yeah I looked one more time, the closest one to me is Trenton NJ.

For you, it would be one of the stores in Orlando;

Not during product launch tho. They need built-up stock to cover initial demand.

IIRC, space black S3 models were same price as plain stainless as well.

OG watch definitely was more expensive tho. Not sure about S2...

I just wanted to point that if you order online now, you gonna get the same delivery date (3-4 weeks) for every model.

Well I got a date from Apple for 9-28 to 10-2 which is not too far off. This person's birthday is on 10-15 but Apple seldom misses it's delivery date.

I ordered online 6 am on the 21st. Mt delivery date is 9-28 to 10-2

SS SB has always been the same price as the regular silver. The only one that was $50 more was the one that came with a Space Black SS band during the S0 launch. The band itself was $50 more than the regular silver SS band, so the bundle was more. But the sport band bundle of the original was always the same cost.

I ordered and got email at x:10 on preorder day SB SS 44 Sport and I still dont have mine. I was put into the 9/28 - 10/2 delivery. as of right now no movement on the order no CC changed. crazy. and they have not had any black SS near me at all. hoping I still get it in the delivery window (aka no later than 10/2) guess we shall see

I will also keep checking Apple stock near me to see if they get any in.

On a different note, I'm curious why you've put the crown on the left where you have to reach across the watch to use it. Just never see it done that way.

On a related note, my late Sept/early Oct Apple.com SBSS order delivered today, the Best Buy order I made at 3:08 EST when I got the delayed release of my SBSS never shipped and didn't look like it was going to for a while.

It was a similar situation with the Series 0 SBSS, the first orders didn't go out until 3-4 weeks after the launch of every other model. You could thank the DLC process they were still tweaking then and now they basically make Space Black to order due to the more labor and technique sensitive method of production.

Might be to not have the crown push against your wrist if you bend it upwards, towards the watch. Encountered that issue on previous watches.

In and out of long sleeves with out getting snagged.
Apple Pay is more natural to me using the thumb.
If I bump the watch I hit the flush side and not the buttons.
