Lag on internal HD

Guys, I have 2 internal HD's

My 2nd HD at times has a severe lag in opening up once double clicked.

Any ideas why this could be?

It's a brand new WD Caviar Black 1TB with nothing stored at all on it yet.

It's a brand new WD Caviar Black 1TB with nothing stored at all on it yet.

It's probably putting the drive to sleep. It takes a moment to spin it up.

Disable drive sleep in energy saver preferences.

Thanks for replies guys.

But thing is the lag sometimes happens straight after I start the computer up. So it doesn't have the chance to go into Sleep Mode - which I've got turned off anyways 🙂
