So today ive noticed a problem with my macbook. While browsing the internet im noticing that while trying to scroll down or up the page my trackpad icon is temporarily freezing up for a few moments before responding. also when im attempting to shut down safari it takes several moments to do is instead of instantly like it used to. anybody know what might be wrong?

A few things to check before heading off to the local, in no particular order:

  • Check All Processes in Activity Monitor to see if a process is hanging or taking more resources than normal.
  • Check here also to see that you're not maxing out your RAM or CPU.
  • Check that you have at least 8GB of free hard drive space on your machine.
  • Restart your machine (if you haven't already).
  • Unplug peripherals one-by-one to see if they're slowing things down for you.
  • Open a new user account and see if the slowness is there, too.
