Yes the title sounds ridiculous but hear me out please.

When scrolling normally, ie by doing a swipe and lifting the finger the scorlling is smooth and everything looks great. Be it safari or anywhere else.

But, if I use my finger to scroll and keep the finger touching the screen during the motion of the swipe, there is considerable jerkiness and lag.

I noticed this while reading an article in safari and I am used to do the swipes while the finger is touching the screen the entire time, just to have more accuracy of where i want the page to stop scrolling.

This happens in almost every occasion I use this way of scrolling. Be it in Photos, Safari, settings, itunes etc etc.

The weird thing is that if I scroll "normally" by just a quick swipe of the finger and lifting it up everything scrolls beautifully and smooth.

Does this happen with you guys as well? Is it a software issue?

Thanks.

Well nobody replied to this but since i found what the issue was and perhaps someone will ever bump inyo this thread, the fix was turning off the zoom function from the accessibility menu.

With it turned off the scrolling (while touching the screen and not lifting the finger) is again buttery smooth without any sign of lag.

Turning it on and even though the screen is at normal size and not zoomed at all (you need to tap 3 fingers for it to zoom) replicates the issue I described.

So there you have it.

Appreciate you coming back & providing a solution to your problem.

I've just turned on zoom, but couldn't replicate it myself, with both zoom mode on & off.

Things like this happen now & then & usually require a shutdown of an App or restart of the phone.

Thanks Ralfi, perhaps this is what you describe, although I restarted the phone many times prior realising what causing this.

Perhaps a firmware update can solve this or something else.

Nevertheless if people have my problem you can try what i suggested.

I can replicate the issue everytime i enable the zoom option even if the screen is not using the feature.

Using the latest 12.2 beta, enabling the zoom at 100% I can't replicate this issue.

You dont have to actually zoom to replicate this. Just activate the zoom function. Leave the screen in its normal size, dont tap 3 finger to actually zoom in.

Then go to your camera roll for example and try scrolling up and down without lifting your finger from the screen.

Do you notice lag and stuttering?

Thats how it happens to me exactly. And I can replicate it all the time. If I am the only one then it is super weird. But thats how it is. When I deactivate the zoom feature from the accessibility menu (so taping 3 fingers doesnt do anything) the issue is completely eliminated.

This thing was a done deal for me but it is quite interesting if other people arent able to replicate this.

Smooth as silk in the camera roll. May have something to do my settings of transparency and reduce motion.

None of my iPhones behave this way in which you described (stutter). They all scroll smoothly no matter how I scroll them. I have a phone w Zoom enabled and it scrolls smooth too.

Ok guys I made a video showing me replicating the issue and then simply getting rid of it as well as I described. Perhaps the video doesnt make the stutter true justice but I think you can really tell the difference. Focus on the images appearing in that google search I am demoing.

Would love to hear more as it feels others dont have the same results which is weird. I mean I am super happy for getting rid of this issue because it has been bugging me since the day i purchased the phone and now for the first time it feels as it should have.

Anyways waiting for your feedback.

You mean you dont notice difference when i disable the Zoom feature? It looks the same to you?
