Anyone having remote issues with the ATV4K recently? I have the AppleTV behind my TV, which I know can lead to issues, but it hasn't given me any problems until a few weeks ago. I have re-paried it, charged it, and still laggy as all hell.

I have it attached to my TV for a seamless look on the wall but can't barely use it. Oddly, my Samsung remote that came with my TV controls my AppleTV without issue.

Can anyone help? Willing to try any new ideas.

the Samsung remote is using the receiver in the TV, and then sends the commands over the HDMI cable to the appleTV, So it's not very odd at all since it's a completely different path the the apple remote uses.

Have you recently changed anything with wifi, or the wifi settings on the TV?
wifi and bluetooth are in the same parts of the spectrum, so they can interfere with each other.

Not sure how you have the aTV mounted, but if you can, try moving the aTV to a different position behind the TV. I have mine resting between the mount and the back of the TV, and if the aTV gets too close to certain places behind the TV the remote starts acting up, I'm guessing that's where my TV's wifi antenna is. sliding a few inches either way clears it up.

When the remote starts acting up you can also try reboot the remote. Hold the menu and volume up buttons for a few seconds. Just be aware sometimes this will raise the volume also, so it might be much louder the next time you start playing.

Try changing the Chroma setting to 4:2:0, it seems bizarre I know but I had a laggy remote which drove me nuts and did just that and no more lag.
I have tested it since then just to be sure and anything(4:4:4) other than 4:2:0 causes lag.

I haven't changed anything on my network but will try turning off my Samsung tv wifi. I have everything going through the ATV box anyway. I gave up and put it on the mantel but love the seamless look of no wires.

for me the bump on the back of my TV is nice and flat on top, so the aTV sits nicely on that, and is held in with the wall mount. It's one small place that causes problems, moving the aTV a few inches in either direction clears it up.

closer to the edge of the screen might better too, so the RF has a chance to go around the screen instead of through it. or maybe closer to the top of the screen if the TV's electronics are all at the bottom. so the RF only has to go through the screen and not through the screen and other circuit boards.

I work in live entertainment, think award shows, concerts and similar (well, hopefully I will again soon). The LED walls you see surrounding stages will block RF just like your home TV screen can. so just be glad you're dealing with a slow remote, and not <big star>'s mic or ear monitors glitching. Thankfully I'm not audio, so don't have to deal with that too much.

I've recently had issues with my remote as well - I'm going to say since the last update. Randomly the cursor will get stuck in the bottom corner of the screen, or using the volume on with my TV will send it rocketing out of control (always loud of course).

I'm hoping that whatever the cause is that the upcoming update fixes it.
