So, my parents PC went into perpetual reboot last week (fancy that, Windows freaking out...) and they gave in to buying a new 17" Intel iMac (wahoo! Didn't mind that trip to the apple store!)

ANYWAYS - My dad's a little perterbed by the loss of Hearts, Freecell, Solitaire, and whatever other beloved card games Windows comes with. We all know that playing with a $2 deck of cards on the kitchen table isn't nearly as easy or entertaining as a $600 deck of cards, disguised as a 'computer'. I've downloaded the Mondo Card Game Widget, but he doesn't like it. All I find when searching on Google are one's you have to pay for. C'mon, who wants to pay for solitaire?

So, what do I do? What do I get? i can load XP SP2 on here, but if I do that just for his card games, he'll just always stick to having it run XP, and then... we don't want that.

One down...

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/12457

There are a few free card games for mac...check out versiontracker and macupdate until you find ones he likes. This is almost the exact same Freecell that is included with all Windows computers...

BTW, all Macs come with Chess and iMacs come with those Big Bang Board games in the Applications folder FYI...

Not exactly card games, but you also might want to show him Bejeweled and Alchemy. They are at popcap games...They are extremely fun time killers and have free demos...

There is a solitaire game by lavacat which is just called Solitaire XL (it's been mentioned previously on here to get a link from). It's a beautiful version of classic solitaire

There's also Freecell which is uglier and more Windows like but works in exactly the same way. I loaded both on Mum's Mac when she switched and missed them.

I just realized...Eric's Ultimate Solitaire is pretty cool too....it has tons of different kinds of solitare all in the same game...

Also, Freeverse, who make the games bundled with the Mac have the following titles....

3D Bridge Deluxe
3D Crazy Eights
3D Euchre Deluxe
3D Hearts Deluxe
3D Setback (aka Pitch)
3D Spades Deluxe
Burning Monkey Casino
Burning Monkey Mahjong 2
Burning Monkey Solitaire
Classic Cribbage
Classic Gin Rummy

It is really cool that they have games like Pitch and Bridge...Check them out!
