What a foolishly unnecessary product.
Not for those of use in a sunny hot climate and want to put our phones on the car dashboard and use maps to get around. Under those conditions, my iPhone 7 lasts about 15-20 minutes before the screen goes dark and/or the app shuts down.

Not saying this product works, but I would give it a try. The need is there.

As others here have pointed out, this seems better suited for the cold only so phone temp won't get too cold while sitting idle.

If you are playing a game, or doing a CPU intensive task, this will certainly not let as much heat escape (vs no case, or traditional case), and cause excessive throttling.

I'm sure the ideal way to use this case is to take it off when you use the phone, and put it on when you're not.

In that case, maybe a "cold/hot" pouch/sleeve is a better solution.

Actually, I kinda dig this. It being (comparatively) inexpensive, slim, touting thermal efficiency, and offering 10 foot drop protection? Voodoo I say.

I think the surefire way to test would be mounting it on your dash, wirelessly charging, and using Maps with Strutt in the background to take a road trip during the summer.

I might be able to put it to the test soon, actually. lol

Edit: Or not, since the version for the X isn't on the store.

The Torrey case for the iPhone X should be available on apple.com later today and is available in stores now. You can also pre order this on Lander.com.

Can you post some pics of your Torrey and Moab cases under neutral lighting? There seems to be some confusion between Apple's site, the pics in this article, your site, and reviews on your site and Amazon about the colors, as well as (in the case of the Moab) the buttons and lanyard attachment.

For example:
  • Apple's shots of the Torrey show a very pale blue, whereas the pics here are light but not that light.
  • A review on both Amazon and your site shows the Moab to be a dark teal, not green (I dig the dark teal, actually).
  • Those same pics seem to show a large cutout where the power button should be, but your site shows what appear to be covered buttons.
  • The lanyard mount on the Moab shows both a horizontal and vertical version, as well as two different lanyards.
Personally, I'd like to see shots of the button coverage (or lack thereof?), as well as any lip that would be protecting the screen.

Thanks for the response!

I’m definitely curious how this case performs. If it actually works in the temperature range stated I’d be interested although I don’t like the lanyard. My phone sees temps ranging from 118 in summer(Phoenix) to -10 in winter(Chicago). Right now I stick my phone in my cooler while I work or the phone shows the temp too high icon after being exposed to the heat for too long

I live in western NC and regularly have issues with the cold and heat on my 6s. The battery will last mere minutes when it is snowing and I'm out hiking taking photos. I oftentimes use the phone as a GPS for my DSLR shots so not having it keep a charge is an issue. Likewise, I often get it overheated in the summer when using it in my car to navigate [no CarPlay, so it's mounted on the windshield].

This case sounds like a step in the right direction, but I'd love it if they made it completely sealed like my LifeProof case [i go caseless unless hiking/photographing] as that would make it the perfect outdoor case - water and dirt proof and thermal protection! Wow...I'd easily pay $80 for a case that did that!

I'm doubting it's ability to keep them cool while on the dash, it doesn't do anything for the screen side in terms of thermal protection. Even in the video they had the phone lying face down, as soon as the sun hits the screen for prolonged times I think it'll still act up...but here's hoping for the opposite!

It will provide even less than zero protection if your phone is lying face up with the glass absorbing all UV rays directly.
Or you can lay it glass down on whatever surface is nearby and receive some sort of heat dissipation.

Think of purchasing a jacket that only covers your back, not your front and it will protect you from harsh cold when skiing, or place half of a shirt on your chest and not your back but you will be protected from sunburns.

Just think before purchasing.

And if you read their wording. Your phone can stop working above 95 degrees F. I live in North Texas, if anyone has seen weather forecasts this year for Texas you will note PLENTY of days north of 100 degrees. The last two weeks have been 107-111 consistently.
I am here to report. That iPhone has not stopped functioning one time outdoors, even though I have come close to spontaneously combusting.
I can't report on extreme cold because ... Texas doesn't believe in cold weather.

Depends on your mounting/vehicle. My windshield might as well be straight up and down so for most of the day, the screen will be shielded from direct sunlight. The back, not so much. If you have a late model swoopmobile with a mile long windshield then yeah, I can where this case wouldn't be helpful.

A cars dashboard is a terrible terrible place for electronics. Unless you put the device in the air-path of the AC it will get extremely hot. I tested some insulation/shading last summer and without AC I got temperatures of 80°C and above in the "shielded" area. And that was without something producing heat inside the insulation, I doubt this product is geared towards car dashboards....

Saw these the other day while browsing in the store

I think lanyard makes a lot more sense than a suction cup on the back

I bought one for when I travel. I don’t care about the thermal thing... it’s just a really nicely made case, and the lanyard will be helpful when I’m using my phone as my main camera.
would you mind to post a few pictures and/or make a little review comparing it to apple's silicone case?

What are the main differences between Moab and Torrey? (for iPhone X)

The Torrey case is engineered with a layer of Thermoline™ – a material designed to regulate and insulate against harsh temperatures – and comes with a detachable lanyard for additional security and convenience. The new design is similar to the company’s existing Moab case, but features smoother edges for a better, more comfortable feel."

The files I have are too big to upload here, but if you can email us at support@lander.com we would be happy to send you some other images.

Sometimes i put my phone on a phone stand while driving to use it to record. Since its in direct sunlight my device overheats and have to put it directly on the a/c vent to get it to normal operating temperatures.

I hope this case fixes that issue

The Thermoline will act as an insulator and should help release that heat.

It not working properly with wireless charging is a deal-breaker. I'm surprised Apple would carry something that isn't compatible with such a conmanly used feature.

Many cases don’t support wireless charging. The back must thin. If you purchased it from Apple, take it back under their flexible return policy.

I've got cases thicker than the Lander cases that work fine on my wireless chargers.

However, I did get to see the cases this week in store and I'm kind of on the fence about them. They have a unique feel, the buttons seem like they'd be clicky, but the overall shape of the case hadn't won me over.

My phone was being replaced otherwise I'd have popped one on to give a more definitive verdict.
