98% landscape

I always use landscape when texting, it is so much faster than portrait, and you make fewer mistakes. It's really very simple, larger letters, fewer mistakes. I only use portrait when I'm forced to do so.

I use it every day. I have big hands and it is a lot easier to type a quick sms in landscape than portrait.

I can't stand landscape mode!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate it so much, it disgusts me!!!!!!! I loathe it wholeheartedly!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad:

Have portrait orientation locked all the time. Landscape mode disabled throughout all apps. Ugh!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad:

For texting mostly. When in landscape mode, you can barely see where you're typing except for 1-2 lines. Portrait mode works fine most of the time for me...

Closer buttons = Faster typing

This is a simple fact of physics. You have to move your fingers further on landscape mode. Therefore it must be taking more time.

Pointless

I would not say I use it all of the time, but I use it about 90% of the time. I have big hands which makes it easier to type.

sorry, but when dealing with this small of a space your logic is counter-intuitive. Most larger thumbs hardly fit onto a portrait keyboard.

full-logic-fail.

If I'm using 1 hand to type I use portrait.
If I'm writing something more than a few words, I use landscape.

My iPhone 4 is jailbroken and one of the tweaks I have is to allow the orientation lock switch to lock into landscape, which I do constantly when I'm browsing

i just get worried that my sweaty hands will trip the water sensors, even though they won't lol

Almost never in landscape. I find it harder to get my thumbs to reach certain keys when in landscape. Plus since it wasn't available everywhere for the longest I got so fast on the portrait there is no need to switch.

the orientation lock is on 99% of the time, really the only time I take it off is to view a landscape photo or something else that requires landscape which I can't think of at the moment....

luckily watching vids on iPod, watchings vids on youtube, and taking pics / vids with camera (and hipstamatic) automatically change to landscape

All the time. I hate typing in portrait.
I agree.

It's the only way for those men over 6' tall. We have larger hands and need the room. Even though I have long slender fingers, the portrait oriented keyboard is still too small.

That said, the real "Killer App" that Stevie boy is too jealous to approve, is "SWYPE".

It would make the perfect input method for the iPhone. Such a shame. I have it on my Android phones... and find it even faster than a full qwerty BlackBerry keyboard. A lot more fun too.

well i'm 6'1 and never use the landscape (see post above), yet I do have candlesticks for fingers "guitar fingers"

I use it quite frequently, particularly when texting, FB Chatting, or writing notes. It's much easier for me to type landscape than it is portrait.

Oh, and I'm a 5'2" girl ;)

Closer buttons = More errors = More backspacing and retyping = Slower typing
