Have we had any news if there will be landscape mode for sms? We know its available for notes and email but any other applications they haven't disclosed about? Im interested to know.

I wish the name of the person you were sending to/having a conversation with disappeared when going into landscape text. You lose pretty much the entire window to the keyboard and can only see the most recent message.

i have a sort of related question, in screen captures of the keyboard, landscape or not, there is a button with what looks like a globe on it, what is this? i dont have it on any of my keyboards

if you have multiple language keyboards on you get that globe... 2.x has that too.

Here are some pictures I took of landscape texting

Landscape texting is really stupid - IMO. I can't read the text that is sent nor received because the txt is longer than the screen size allowed. The stupid keyboard fills up 3/4 of the screen and it's really annoying.

I wish they would allow for the keyboard to hide when scrolling the txt message. It's really really difficult to work in landscape mode. Unless you set your fonts to be really small which you can't.

it's a good thing you have a option for another view

I think what he means is that once you tap within the text field, the keyboard pops up and you have to hit back (with no text entered) to view the conversation again in the whole window. I too wish there was a way to pop the keyboard in and out.

gillilandboy, can you try that and see if there is a way to pop the keyboard in and out in texting?

Too bad there's so much wasted space in landscape txt mode.

Big blocks of text should go right across, not in narrow columns like in portrait mode.

How about reading texts in portrait mode and using the landscape feature for what it's meant to be used for, which is ease of input?

Seriously. Don't start the whining already. We're months out from the official release.

I agree. You get people whining about how they want landscape mode in sms, then as soon as it's announced, you hear people complaining. Can't win for losing with some people.

First off, the point is valid. The current landscape mode makes inefficient use of space. Second off, you don't comment AFTER the fact, you comment before so improvements can be made.

Right, since complaining on this forum will definately make Apple change the landscape view in SMS.

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean. Could you explain a little more?

You know when you enter the text app, and tap the text field, the keyboard scrolls up. Is there an option to tap something for it to go back down? I doubt there is but I can be hopeful.

How many past messages do you need to read to reply to someone?

"What are you doing?"

"Heading out to lunch, you?

"Same. Wanna meet up?"

"Yeah, let's meet on Broadway."

How much of that conversation to you need to see to send a reply?
