Agreed! Some use it, some do not - so it should be optional.

I voted landscape and only text in landscape now. When I open the app to read a text, I'll do portrait but as soon as I'm ready to reply, I rotate the phone.

I do portrait, but only because I'm used to it. If I remember to do Landscape, I switch immediately.

Me too. I'm the opposite of the previous poster; when I'm laying in bed, I wish I could lock it into landscape

I always thought I'd prefer landscape but I don't!! In the landscape mode I find the keys too large and slower to type with!

Normally, I do portrait purely because I forget about the landscape. If I'm writing a long text or e-mail, I usually switch it the landscape though just for comfort and speed.
