Language help

My Mac Pro is set to German language but I would like when I open Microsoft Word for it to ope in English. Right now when I type a document in English spell check goes crazy and I am curious if I can do this for only one program or if I must change the language for the whole OS every time I must use a word document like this?

i have no idea what I have done but now its opening in english.... now just to figure out what I did so that I can switch it back if needed
