So I'm Chinese and every time I want to type to my relatives in Chinese I have first type it in English then use something like Google translate to HOPE it translates it into something understandable in Chinese. Is there a program out there that allows ones to "type" in Chinese?

Your macbook pro will. Open system preferences, click on the international tab(on the upper right) and select whichever Chinese you prefer. Then, in the upper right corner of the screen, a flag will appear. click on the flag to change to Chinese, then click back when you are done(you can also assign keyboard shortcuts to do that)

check out "FIT". That is the best input method in MAC. And it is free!

you can search it in google.

BTW, when you have any difficulty in type chinese, I mean not only in MAC, you can just use the temporary web input:
